Abstract
A method of reducing power consumption in a network. A first network device powers down or reduces the port speed of a port if said port is blocked by a loop mitigation protocol.
Claims20
A method of reducing power consumption in a network, the method comprising a first network device reducing the port speed of a first port if said first port is blocked by a loop mitigation protocol.
A network device having a first port, a processor and a memory, the memory storing machine readable instructions which are executable by the processor to determine that the first port has been blocked by a loop mitigation protocol and to reduce the speed of the first port in response to this determination.
A network device having a first port, a processor and a memory, the memory storing machine readable instructions which are executable by the processor to disable a link between said network device and a second network device when said link is blocked by a loop mitigation protocol
