Antenna for use in thz transceivers

An antenna unit comprising electrodes including two electrodes accommodated in a spaced-apart relationship defining a cavity between them for free space propagation of electrons along a cavity axis, wherein

• one of said two electrodes is configured as a thermo- or photo-emission electrode to be responsive to an external input signal to emit an electron flux for the free space propagation through said cavity along the cavity axis towards the other electrode, said electrodes define first and second electrode portions, wherein the first portion has at least a region thereof which is exposed to said electron flux and is thereby operable as an antenna feeding port causing an electric current in said second portion, and the second portion is configured as a bow-tie antenna radiating portion.

An antenna unit comprising:

• electrodes including two electrodes accommodated in a spaced-apart relationship defining a cavity between them for free space propagation of electrons along a cavity axis, wherein one of said two electrodes is configured as a thermo- or photo-emission electrode to be responsive to an external input signal to emit an electron flux for the free space propagation through said cavity along the cavity axis towards the other electrode, said electrodes defining first and second electrode portions, wherein the first portion has at least a region thereof which is exposed to said electron flux and is thereby operable as an antenna feeding port causing an electric current in said second portion, and the second portion is configured as an antenna radiating portion.
