Abstract
A package includes at least a first, second, and third panel forming a three-ply structure with the second panel between the first and third panels. An opening is formed in the second panel. An inner surface of each of the first and third panels faces one another through the opening. The inner surfaces of the first and third panels are either heat-sealable, or at least one of the first and third panels has an embossed area facing the opening and fitting at least partly into the opening.
Claims21
A packaging structure comprising:
- a plurality of panels defining an enclosed or partly enclosed space,
- at least two flaps or flap extensions hingedly attached to one or more of said panels;
- wherein at least one of the flaps or flap extensions includes an opening therein,
- the at least two flaps or flap extensions, and optionally another of said panels, forming at least three plies of material, at least three of said plies being adhered together, with the opening being in an interior ply of the at least three plies.
A blank for forming a packaging structure, the blank comprising:
- a plurality of panels joined together along fold lines;
- at least two flaps or flap extensions joined to one or more of said panels along fold lines, at least one of the flaps or flap extensions having an opening therethrough and at least one other of the panels, flaps or flap extensions comprising a raised area;
- wherein folding the panels, and flaps or flap extensions along the fold lines results in at least one area of three plies with the opening being in an interior one of the plies, and results in the raised area extending into the opening.
A packaging structure comprising:
- a plurality of panels defining an enclosed or partly enclosed space,
- at least two flaps or flap extensions hingedly attached to one or more of said panels;
- wherein at least one of the flaps or flap extensions includes an opening therein, the at least two flaps or flap extensions, and optionally another of said panels, forming at least three plies of material, at least three of said plies being adhered together, with the opening being in an interior ply of the at least three plies, and
- wherein an embossed area is provided in one of the plies adjacent to the interior ply with the opening, and the embossed area fits into the opening.
A package in the form of a plurality of panels defining a tube with a first end, the package comprising at the first end:
- a first flap and a first flap extension hingedly attached to a first of said panels, and an opening formed in either of the first flap or first flap extension,
- a second flap or second flap extension hingedly attached to either the first flap extension or another of said panels,
- wherein said flaps or flap extensions, and optionally another of said panels, form at least three plies of material with the opening in an interior ply, and wherein an embossed area is provided in a first adjacent ply in facing contact with a first surface of the interior ply, the embossed area fitting into the opening.
A packaging structure comprising:
- a first panel,
- a second panel, and
- a third panel,
- wherein the three panels are adhesively joined together to form a three-ply structure with the second panel between the first and third panels,
- wherein an opening is formed in the second panel,
- wherein each of the first and third panels have a heat-sealable surface, and
- the heat sealable surfaces face each other though the opening.
A packaging structure comprising:
- a first panel,
- a second panel, and
- a third panel,
- wherein the three panels form a three-ply structure with the second panel between the first and third panels,
- wherein an opening is formed in the second panel,
- wherein at least one of the first and third panels has an embossed area, and
- the embossed area faces the opening and fits at least partly into the opening.
