Parking Piston Direct Connection to APR Rod

A safety brake arrangement usable together with a service brake arrangement as a brake actuator, the safety brake arrangement comprising:

• a plurality of actuator housing portions,
• a diaphragm seal, partially delimiting a parking brake de-actuation chamber, retained between adjacent housing portions of the plurality of actuator housing portions,
• an elastic element disposed between the diaphragm seal and one of the housing portions to oppose expansion of the parking brake de-actuation chamber,
• a push rod operable to produce brake actuation upon depressurization of the parking brake de-actuation chamber, the push rod extending through the parking brake de-actuation chamber,
• a piston, secured to and movable together with both the push rod and the diaphragm seal, and acting as a seat for the elastic element, and
• a clamping arrangement by which a central portion of the diaphragm seal is axially clamped between an end of the push rod and a surface of the piston so as to be constrained for movement with both the push rod and the piston.
