The wallboard also includes an aerogel dispersed in the gypsum dihydrate.
Claims20
A wallboard comprising:
- a set gypsum dihydrate, the set gypsum dihydrate derived substantially from a non-fibrous form of calcium sulfate selected from the group consisting of anhydrous gypsum and gypsum hemihydrate;
- and
- an aerogel dispersed in the set gypsum dihydrate.
A method of preparing a wallboard comprising:
- forming a slurry comprising
- a gypsum dihydrate derived substantially from a non-fibrous form of calcium sulfate and selected from the group consisting of anhydrous gypsum and gypsum hemihydrate;
- and
- an aerogel dispersed in the gypsum dihydrate;
- applying the slurry to a lower facing material to form a core layer;
- applying an upper facing material to an upper surface of the core layer;
- and
- heating the core layer and the upper and lower facing materials sufficiently to dry the core layer and the upper and lower facing materials to form the wallboard.
A method of making a gypsum slurry, the method comprising mixing water, a non-fibrous form of calcium sulfate selected from the group consisting of anhydrous gypsum and gypsum hemihydrate, and an aerogel to form the gypsum slurry.
