Method for cutting honeycomb molded body and method for manufacturing honeycomb structure

A method for manufacturing a honeycomb structure, comprising:

• applying laser in a wavelength range of from about 0.7 μm to about 2.5 μm to a honeycomb molded body to form a cut guide groove on a periphery of the honeycomb molded body, the honeycomb molded body being made of a material including silicon carbide, being manufactured by extrusion molding, and having a number of cells, a cell wall interposed between the cells and a peripheral wall formed on a side face of the honeycomb molded body, the cells being placed in parallel with one another in a longitudinal direction of the cells;
• cutting the honeycomb molded body along the cut guide groove to a predetermined length using a wire;
• firing a plurality of the honeycomb molded bodies to obtain a plurality of honeycomb fired bodies, each having a number of cells placed in parallel with one another in a longitudinal direction of the cells;
• and
• binding the plurality of the honeycomb fired bodies with one another via an adhesive layer formed on side faces of the honeycomb fired bodies to obtain the honeycomb structure.
