Abstract
Photoluminescent and electroluminescent compositions are provided which comprise a matrix comprising aromatic repeat units and a luminescent metal ion or luminescent metal ion complex. Methods for producing such compositions, and the electroluminescent devices formed therefrom, are disclosed.

An electroluminescent composition comprising (i) an organic matrix wherein the matrix comprises one or more of oligomers, an oligomeric matrix, small organic molecules and discrete organic molecules and (ii) luminescent metal ions or luminescent metal ion complexes.
An electroluminescent device comprising an electroluminescent composition which comprises (i) an organic matrix wherein the matrix comprises one or more of oligomers, an oligomeric matrix, small organic molecules and discrete organic molecules and (ii) luminescent metal ions or luminescent metal ion complexes.
