Composite layer

A composite layer comprising a plurality of first zones of a first polymeric material partially encapsulated in a continuous matrix of a second polymeric material, wherein all first zones of the first polymeric material have an exposed area on only one major surface of the composite layer, wherein each first zone has a center point, wherein there is a length between two center points separated by a second zone, wherein there is an average of said lengths, and wherein the lengths between two center points separated by a second zone are within 20 percent of the average of said length.
