Abstract
A rotational axis multi-phased wind turbine power generating system is disclosed. A differential pressure is created by utilizing the prevailing wind, and air from the prevailing wind is directed into air blades for the creation of power. Optimally, the air blades directly utilize the prevailing wind in combination with the created differential pressure to create power. An adjustable air scoop, adjustable exit drag curtain or barrier, orienting systems, and air flow directing dampers are disclosed.
Claims23
A method of orientating an air intake for a vertical rotating axis wind power generating system toward the prevailing wind comprising:
- a. a main support column, wherein said main support column has a rotating member near the upper portion of said main support column,
- b. a supporting surface for said vertical rotating axis wind power generating system, wherein said supporting surface is mounted on a connecting member,
- c. wherein said connecting member is attached to said rotating member,
- d. wherein said vertical rotating axis wind power generating system is offset from said main support column, wherein the distance of said offset is designed according to a predetermined condition, and
- e. wherein the prevailing wind rotates said vertical rotating axis wind power generating system about said main support column by acting upon the surface of said air intake, and
- f. whereby said air intake is rigidly oriented relative to said supporting surface, whereby said air intake is therefore oriented relative to the prevailing wind.
An enhanced multi-phased vertical axis wind power generating system comprising:
- a. a power generating turbine, wherein said power generating turbine incorporates air blades that rotate about said vertical axis,
- b. a chamber, wherein said chamber is surrounded by a fixed and open structure,
- c. wherein said chamber receives air flow by a positive pressure created from a prevailing wind, wherein said positive pressure generates air flow from said-chamber into said air blades,
- d. a flow tube, wherein said flow tube directs air flow from said chamber into said air blades,
- e. wherein air flows from said chamber through said air blades, and
- f. wherein said air blades are configured such that a second phase of the prevailing wind directly impacts at least a portion of said air blades,
- whereby said power generating system creates useful power from the prevailing wind.
An enhanced multi-phased vertical axis wind power generating system comprising:
- a. a power generating turbine, wherein said power generating turbine incorporates air blades that rotate about said vertical axis, wherein said air blades are configured such that a second phase of the prevailing wind directly impacts at least a portion of said air blades,
- b. a lower chamber, wherein said chamber is surrounded by a fixed structure, wherein said lower chamber receives air flow by a positive pressure created from a prevailing wind, wherein said positive pressure generates air flow from said-chamber into said air blades,
- d. a flow tube, wherein said flow tube directs air flow from said chamber into said air blades, and
- e. a passive in-flow air dampers, shutters or curtains, wherein said passive in-flow air dampers are configured on said chamber and are configured to open as a function of the prevailing wind,
- wherein air flows from said chamber through said air blades whereby said power generating system creates useful power from the prevailing wind, and wherein said fixed structure is integrally coupled to a roof.
