Abstract
A method, apparatus, and system are provided for assigning tasks and/or providing resources in a distributed system. An indication of a task being available for processing is provided to one or more remote systems in a distributed system based on a distribution list. At least one response from one of the remote systems capable of performing the task is received in response to the indication. The response includes a request for a resource for performing the task. The resource for performing the task is provided to the remote systems.
Claims27
A method, comprising:
- indicating to one or more remote systems in a distributed system that a task is available for processing based on a distribution list;
- receiving at least one response from said one or more remote systems capable of performing the task responsive to the indication prompting at least the one or more remote systems from which a response was received to perform the task;
- and
- determining whether the task was competed properly using a proper resource.

A method, comprising:
- providing an indication to one or more remote systems in a distributed system that a task is available for processing based on a distribution list;
- receiving at least one response from the one or more remote systems capable of performing the task responsive to the indication;
- allowing at least one of the remote systems to perform the task based on said received response;
- and
- receiving a result of a completion of said task, said result comprising a data indicative of the correctness of one or more resources utilized to perform said task.

A computer-readable storage device encoded with data that, when executed by a processor, configures the processor to perform a method, the method comprising:
- indicating to one or more remote systems in a distributed system that a task is available for processing based on a distribution list;
- receiving at least one response from said one or more remote systems capable of performing the task responsive to the indication, said at least one response comprising an indication that said one or more remote systems have at least one updated resource required for performing said task;
- prompting at least the one or more remote systems from which a response was received to perform the task;
- and
- determining whether the task was competed properly using a proper resource.
