Abstract
An image reading apparatus reads image information of an original document to produce image data having different data sizes. An image converting section converts the image information into a plurality of items of image data. A display section displays a plurality of items of information on the plurality of items of image data. A selecting section allows selecting of one of plurality of items of image data.

A method for processing an image, comprising:
- obtaining an item of image information;
- producing a first item of image data and a second item of image data based on the item of image information such that the first item of image data differs from the second item of image data;
- storing the first item of image data and the second item of image data into a memory section;
- selecting one of the first item of image data and the second item of image data stored in the memory section, selection being restricted by comparing an item of reference information with information about the first item of image data and the second item of image data and then selecting a specific item Of image data;
- and
- outputting the selected item of image data.

A method for processing an image, comprising:
- obtaining an item of image information;
- producing a first item of image data and a second item of image data based on the item of image information such that the first item of image data differs from the second item of image data;
- storing the first item of image data and the second item of image data into a memory section;
- selecting one of the first item of image data and the second item of image data stored in the memory section, selection including comparing the item of reference information with information about the first item of image data and the second item of image data, and then restricting outputting a specific item of image data in accordance with the comparison result.

A method for processing an image, comprising;
- obtaining a plurality of items of image information;
- producing a plurality of items of image data based on corresponding ones of the plurality of items of image information, at least two of the plurality of items of image data being produced based on one of the plurality of items of image information such that the at least two items of image data differing from each other;
- storing the plurality of items of image data into a memory section that holds an item of reference information therein;
- comparing the item of reference information with information about each item of image data;
- selecting one of the plurality of items of image data stored in the memory section, selection being determined in accordance with the comparison result.
