Abstract
A liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel in the pixel electrode and common electrodes formed within a pixel comprise repeating structures. The angular range of light incident from the light source is narrower along a direction of the repeating structures than along an orthogonal direction.
Claims1
A liquid crystal display comprising:
- a liquid crystal panel in which at least one of a pixel electrode and a common electrode formed within a pixel comprises repeating structures;
- a light source illuminating said liquid crystal panel;
- and
- an anisotropic diffuser arranged between said liquid crystal panel and said light source;
- wherein an angular range of light incident from said light source on said liquid crystal panel is narrower along a direction of said repeating structures of said electrode than along an orthogonal direction;
- and
- wherein a direction of repeating structures of the electrode coincides with a direction in which diffusivity of the anisotropic diffuser is small.
