Method of Authorizing Automated Banking Machine Use Responsive to User Data Read From Data Bearing Records

A method carried out in connection with an apparatus including an automated banking machine that operates responsive at least in part to data read from data bearing records to cause financial transfers,

• wherein the at least one automated banking machine includes at least one reader,
• wherein the at least one reader is operative to read user data usable to identify a financial account,
• wherein the at least one automated banking machine includes a cash dispenser,
• wherein the cash dispenser is operative to dispense cash to authorized users of the machine,
• wherein the at least one automated banking machine includes at least one user display,
• wherein the apparatus includes at least one computer, wherein the at least one computer is operable to communicate with the at least one reader, the cash dispenser, and the at least one user display,
• wherein the apparatus includes at least one virtual machine operable in the at least one computer,
• wherein the at least one virtual machine includes automated banking machine controlling software that is operable in the at least one virtual machine to cause the at least one computer to control operation of the at least one automated banking machine,
• wherein the method comprises:
• a) through operation of the automated banking machine controlling software executing in the virtual machine that is operating in the at least one computer, receiving in at least one communication from the at least one automated banking machine, at least one message that includes user data read by the at least one reader;
• b) through operation of the automated banking machine controlling software executing in the virtual machine that is operating in the at least one computer, causing the at least one computer to send in at least one communication to a financial transaction host, at least one transaction request message that includes the user data read by the at least one reader;
• c) through operation of the automated banking machine controlling software executing in the virtual machine that is operating in the at least one computer, receiving from the financial transaction host, an authorization for a cash dispense transaction;
• and
• d) through operation of the automated banking machine controlling software executing in the virtual machine that is operating in the at least one computer, causing the at least one computer to send in at least one communication to the at least one automated banking machine, at least one cash dispense instruction that causes the cash dispenser to dispense cash.
