Abstract
A method of treating incontinence in a male patient includes forming a non-scrotal incision in the male patient; traversing an anchor portion of an implant through the incision and through an obturator foramen of the male patient; securing the anchor portion of the implant to a ramus of the male patient; and placing a support portion of the implant in the incision to support a urethra of the male patient.
Claims16
A method of treating incontinence in a male patient comprising:
- forming a non-scrotal incision in the male patient;
- traversing an anchor portion of an implant through the incision and through an obturator foramen of the male patient;
- securing the anchor portion of the implant to a pubis of the male patient;
- and
- placing a support portion of the implant in the incision to support a urethra of the male patient.
A method of treating urinary incontinence comprising:
- forming a first incision exposing a urethral region a patient;
- forming suprapubic incision in the patient;
- tunneling an introducer from the suprapubic incision superficially anterior to a pubic symphysis of the patient and out of the first incision;
- attaching a first portion of an implant to the introducer and retracting the introducer and the first portion of the implant from the first incision to the suprapubic incision;
- forming a third incision in the patient;
- tunneling an introducer from the third incision retropubically through the patient and out of the first incision;
- and
- attaching a third portion of the implant to the introducer and retracting the introducer and the third portion of the implant from the first incision to the third incision.
A method for treating urinary incontinence, the method comprising:
- making an incision in a patient;
- inserting an elongated implant into the incision;
- extending one end of the implant through a first obturator foramen of the patient, around a first ischial pubic ramus of the patient and back to the incision;
- extending an opposite end of the implant through a second obturator foramen of the patient, around a second ischial pubic ramus of the patient and back to the incision;
- positioning a center portion of the implant against intact spongiosis tissue of a urethra of the patient;
- and
- securing the ends of the implant near the center portion of the implant so as to secure the ends around a respective one of the first ischial pubic ramus and the second ischial pubic ramus.
A method for treating urinary incontinence, the method comprising:
- making an incision in a patient;
- inserting an elongated implant into the incision;
- extending one end of the implant through a first obturator foramen of the patient, engaging the implant with a first ischial pubic ramus of the patient, and extending the end of the implant back to the incision;
- extending an opposite end of the implant through a second obturator foramen of the patient, engaging the implant with a second ischial pubic ramus of the patient, and extending the opposite end of the implant back to the incision;
- positioning a center portion of the implant against intact spongiosis tissue of a urethra of the patient;
- and
- securing the ends of the implant near the center portion of the implant so as to secure the ends to a respective one of the first ischial pubic ramus and the second ischial pubic ramus.
