Abstract
Said preparations can be administered topically to the intact eye surface, and are useful in the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders of the retina, optic nerve, lateral geniculate body and visual cortex, in order to prevent reduction of visual capacity and restore the normal visual function.

Ophthalmic preparation in the form of eyedrops comprising a Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) in a concentration of at least 15 μg/μl.

A method of preventing and/or treating neurodegenerative diseases of the retina, optic nerve and lateral geniculate body, said method comprising:
- administering an effective amount of an ophthalmic preparation in the form of eyedrops comprising BDNF to a subject in need thereof.
