Devices and methods for providing access to internal component

A method comprising:

• detecting an event requesting that a biometric sensor, an image capture device, or a strobe flash, or a combination thereof, of an electronic device be used or exposed using data processing circuitry of the electronic device;
• and
• upon detection of the event, controlling a window to become transparent to expose the biometric sensor, the image capture device, or the strobe flash, or the combination thereof using a window controller of the electronic device.

An enclosure for an electronic device comprising:

• a color layer having a window cutout configured to be disposed over a component of the electronic device;
• and
• a window layer, wherein the window layer is disposed above or below the window cutout of the color layer and wherein the window layer is configured to be disposed above the component of the electronic device, and wherein an opacity of an area of the polymer-dispersed liquid crystal window is configured to vary to hide or expose the component of the electronic device.
