Abstract
A technique of operating a wireless communication device includes creating a resource block map by associating respective subscriber station identifications, corresponding to respective subscriber stations, with one or more resource blocks. The respective subscriber station identifications and the resource block map are transmitted, from a serving base station, in one or more control channel symbols.

A method of operating a wireless network, comprising:
- for at least one subscriber station of the wireless network, transmitting a respective control channel associated with the at least one subscriber station;
- and
- where the transmitted respective control channel comprises at least one associated subscriber station identifier for use with a shared resource block map.
A method of operating a subscriber station device of a wireless network, comprising:
- receiving from the network a respective control channel associated with the subscriber station, where the respective control channel comprises an associated subscriber station identifier;
- receiving from the network a shared resource block map;
- and
- receiving from the network one or more resource blocks assigned to the subscriber station device based on the associated subscriber station identifier and the shared resource block map.
A subscriber station device, comprising:
- a wireless interface configured to communicate with a network apparatus;
- a processor;
- and
- a computer readable apparatus having a storage medium with at least one computer program stored thereon, the at least one computer program configured to, when executed on the processor:
- receive a respective control channel associated with the subscriber station, the respective control channel comprising an associated subscriber station identifier;
- receive a shared resource block map;
- receive one or more resource blocks assigned to the subscriber station device based on the associated subscriber station identifier and the shared resource block map;
- and
- decode the received one or more resource blocks.
A serving apparatus, comprising:
- a wireless interface configured to communicate with a population of subscriber station devices;
- a processor;
- and
- a computer readable apparatus having a storage medium with at least one computer program stored thereon, the at least one computer program configured to, when executed on the processor:
- for at least one subscriber station, transmit a respective control channel associated with the at least one subscriber station, the transmitted respective control channel comprising at least one associated subscriber station identifier for use with a shared resource block map;
- and
- transmit the shared resource block map.
