Method and apparatus for transmitting reference signal in wireless communication system

A method for transmitting a channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) by a base station in a wireless communication system via a radio frame having a subframe, the subframe containing a slot, the slot containing six consecutive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols, the method comprising:

• generating a CSI RS sequence;
• mapping the CSI RS sequence to a set of resource elements (REs) of OFDM symbols and subcarriers to form the CSI RS, the set of REs comprising a pair of consecutive OFDM symbol elements separated by constant subcarrier spacing;
• and
• transmitting the CSI RS.

A device configured to transmit a channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) in a wireless communication system via a radio frame having a subframe, the subframe containing a slot, the slot containing six consecutive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols, comprising:

• a radio frequency (RF) unit;
• and
• a processor operatively connected to the RF unit and configured to
• generate a CSI RS sequence,
• map the CSI RS sequence to a set of resource elements (REs) of OFDM symbols and subcarriers to form the CSI RS, the set of REs comprising a pair of consecutive OFDM symbol elements separated by constant subcarrier spacing, and
• transmit the CSI RS.

A method for receiving a channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) by user equipment (UE) from a base station in a wireless communication system via a radio frame having a subframe, the subframe containing a slot, the slot containing six consecutive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols, the method comprising:

• receiving the CSI RS;
• processing the received CSI RS;
• and
• performing channel estimation based on the processed CSI RS,
• wherein the received CSI RS is formed by mapping a CSI RS sequence generated in the base station to a set of resource elements (REs) of OFDM symbols and subcarriers, the set of REs comprising a pair of consecutive OFDM symbol elements separated by constant subcarrier spacing.

A device configured to receive a channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) in a wireless communication system via a radio frame having a subframe, the subframe containing a slot, the slot containing six consecutive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols, comprising:

• a radio frequency (RF) unit;
• and
• a processor operatively connected to the RF unit and configured to
• receive the CSI RS,
• process the received CSI RS, and
• perform channel estimation based on the processed CSI RS,
• wherein the received CSI RS is formed by mapping a CSI RS sequence generated in the base station to a set of resource elements (REs) of OFDM symbols and subcarriers, the set of REs comprising a pair of consecutive OFDM symbol elements separated by constant subcarrier spacing.
