Filter for Video Stream

A filter for a video stream displaying a previous picture and a current picture on a plurality of pixels of a display, the previous picture comprising a plurality of previous picture values, the current picture comprising a plurality of current picture values, with each previous picture value and each current picture value being corresponding to one of the pixels, the filter comprising:

• a motion difference calculator, for accumulating a difference between the previous picture value and the current picture value in a first neighborhood of each pixel to provide a motion difference for each pixel;
• a filter value calculator, coupled to the motion difference calculator, for providing a filter value for each pixel according to each motion difference;
• and
• a blender, coupled to the filter value calculator, for blending each previous picture value and each current picture value to a filtered picture value according to a first weighting positively correlated with the filter value and a second weighting inversely correlated with the filter value for generating a filtered picture.
