Abstract
An apparatus for determining the homogeneity of a fluid flow in a pipe, such as a reducing-agent flow in an exhaust-gas pipe of an internal combustion engine, including a transmitter arranged on a light-transmissive region of the pipe and a diametrically opposite detector. The transmitter and detector being coupled such that they are rotatable through an angle of 360° about a rotational axis which is located substantially in the axis of symmetry of the pipe. The transmitter and the detector are rotated through at least 360° about the rotational axis, thus capturing an intensity of the detected light over the rotation angle, and from this a homogeneity of the fluid flow is deduced.
Claims14
An apparatus for determining the homogeneity of a fluid flow in a pipe, the apparatus comprising:
- at least one transmitter, which is arranged on a light-transmissive region of the pipe, and at least one diametrically opposite detector, with the at least one transmitter and the at least one detector being coupled such that, owing to them, an intensity, which is transmitted through the pipe, is capturable in an angle-dependent manner over an angular range of 360° about a rotational axis which is located substantially in the axis of symmetry of the pipe.
A method for determining the homogeneity of a fluid flow in a pipe, the method comprising:
- capturing with at least one transmitter and at least one detector an intensity of detected light over a rotation angle in an angular range of at least 360° about a rotational axis which is located substantially in the longitudinal axis of the pipe, and
- determining from the captured intensity a homogeneity of the fluid flow.
