Cathode active material precursor particle, method for producing thereof and method for producing cathode active material for lithium secondary battery

A method for producing a cathode active material precursor particle, which forms, through incorporation of lithium thereinto, a cathode active material particle for use in a lithium secondary battery, the cathode active material particle containing a lithium complex oxide having a layered rock salt structure, characterized in that the method comprises:

• a forming step of forming a compact in which raw material particles are arranged so as to have a uniform crystal orientation, and
• a granulation step of crushing the compact or the compact which has been subjected to a thermal treatment, to thereby yield a cathode active material precursor particle having an aspect ratio, which is expressed as a value calculated by dividing a long axis diameter by a short axis diameter, of 1.0 or more and less than 2.
