Abstract
An induced draft anti-fog system for goggles and similar optical devices having an air tight goggle with ports, fixedly attached to a hollow elastomeric conduit. Said hollow conduit having an intake port and exhaust fan. The exhaust fan has an on/off switch in communication with two battery packs. When the fan is in operation air is drawn into the intake port and circulated into the goggle housing thereby defogging the goggle lens and then is circulated out through the fan.
Claims20
An induced draft anti-fog device for optical lenses to prevent said lens from fogging up and accumulating condensation comprising:
- a) means for introducing air flow across the interior portion of an optical lens;
- b) means for removing said air flow from said interior portion of said optical lens;
- c) means for powering said means for removing said air flow from said interior portion of said optical lens;
- and
- d) a flexible ambient air conduit.
A method for employing an anti-fog device for goggles to reduce or eliminate fogging and build-up of condensation comprising the steps:
- a) providing goggles having:
- a housing with air apertures on opposing sides thereof and an integral optical lens;
- a flexible, elastomeric ambient air conduit with opposing ends in communication with said air apertures of said housing;
- an air intake port disposed within said conduit, an exhaust fan disposed in-line with said conduit;
- at least one battery for powering said fan and a power switch for energizing said exhaust fan with said at least one battery;
- b) affixing said goggle housing against the user's face in air-tight manner with said elastomeric ambient air conduit providing a strap to maintain said goggles in place;
- c) turning said on/off switch to the on position to energize said exhaust fan;
- and
- d) drawing ambient air into said ambient air intake port, through said conduit, across the interior surface of said goggle lens to prevent fogging and condensation build-up thereon, back into said conduit and egressing from said exhaust fan.
The method for employing an anti-fog device for goggles to reduce or eliminate fogging and build-up of condensation further comprising the step of providing a filter element within said air intake port to prevent accumulation of dirt and debris within said conduit.
The method for employing an anti-fog device for goggles to reduce or eliminate fogging and build-up of condensation further comprising the step of providing an adjustable elastic strap with loops than encircle said conduit to enable the user to adjust the strap accordingly to provide a snug fit thereto.
