Abstract
The invention concerns a device for treatment of an organ or tissue of a living being. The device comprises at least one treatment transducer for emission of ultrasound waves, preferably high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) waves, focusable on a focal point within or on the surface of said organ or tissue, as well as means for rotating said treatment transducer around an axis which intersects said focal point. The device further comprises synchronization means for synchronizing the rotation of the treatment transducer with at least the emission of ultrasound waves from said treatment transducer and/or an additional imaging transducer.

A device for treatment of an organ or tissue of a living being, said device comprising:
- at least one treatment transducer for emission of ultrasound waves, being focused on a focal point within or on the surface of said organ or tissue;
- and
- means for rotating said treatment transducer in such a way that said focal point is not moved
- wherein the device further comprises synchronization means for synchronizing the rotation of the treatment transducer with at least the emission of ultrasound waves from said treatment transducer and/or an additional imaging transducer.
A method for operating a device for treatment of an organ or tissue of a living being comprising the steps of:
- emitting an ultrasound pulse from a treatment transducer being focused on a focal point within or on the surface of said organ or tissue;
- and
- rotating the treatment transducer, whereby said focal point is not moved wherein synchronization means synchronize at least one of the rotation of the treatment transducer and the emission of an ultrasound pulse from the treatment transducer and an additional imaging transducer.
A method for treatment of an organ or tissue of a living being by irradiating said organ or tissue with ultrasound waves emitted from a treatment transducer, located on or within a rotatable probe head, wherein the rotation of said treatment transducer is synchronized with the emission of ultrasound waves from said treatment transducer and/or from an additional imaging transducer.
Method for the determination of shifts of the target area between two acquired ultrasound images of an ultrasound treatment device with an ultrasound treatment transducer being rotatable around a rotation axis and comprising a co-rotatable imaging transducer having an imaging plane including said rotation axis, wherein imaging data of an area on the rotation axis of both images is compared.
A method for use of an ultrasound treatment device with a rotating ultrasound transducer wherein said ultrasound transducer is rotated around rotation axis with a speed sufficient to push air inclusions in a coupling fluid located between said transducer and the skin of a patient to the edge of said transducer by means of friction forces.
