## CPC

- A01N 59/20: Copper
- A01N: PRESERVATION OF BODIES OF HUMANS OR ANIMALS OR PLANTS OR PARTS THEREOF (preservation of food or foodstuff A23); BIOCIDES, e.g. AS DISINFECTANTS, AS PESTICIDES OR AS HERBICIDES (preparations for medical, dental or toiletry purposes which kill or prevent the growth or proliferation of unwanted organisms A61K); PEST REPELLANTS OR ATTRACTANTS; PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS

## Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for controlling phytopathogenic microorganisms by treating the crop to be protected, the soil or the plant propagation material with an effective amount of copper salt particles which comprise a water-soluble polymer and which have a primary particle diameter of from 1 to 200 nm. The invention also relates to an aqueous suspension of the abovementioned copper salt particles and the use of this suspension in crop protection.

## Claims

### Claim at position 1

### Claim 19

A method for controlling phytopathogenic microorganisms by treating the crop to be protected, the soil or the plant reproduction material with an effective amount of amorphous copper salt particles, the amorphous copper salt particles being obtainable by a method comprising:
a) preparing a first aqueous solution comprising copper ions and a second aqueous solution comprising at least one anion which is not hydroxide and forms a precipitate with copper ions, at least one of the first aqueous solution and the second solution comprising at least one water-soluble polymer,
b) mixing the first aqueous solution and the second aqueous solution at a temperature in the range of from 0 to 100° C. to form an aqueous dispersion, and
c) optionally concentrating the aqueous dispersion and/or removing by-products from the aqueous dispersion,
where the copper salt particles have a primary particle diameter of from 1 to 200 nm.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, where the effective amount amorphous copper salt particles is from 10 to 500 g of copper ions per hectare.

### Claim 21 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, where the water-soluble polymer being a polycarboxylate.

### Claim 22 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, where the water-soluble polymer is a polymer having a comb-like molecular structure having from 90 to 10% by weight of macromonomers and from 10 to 90% by weight of comonomers which carry deprotonatable groups.

### Claim 23 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, where the anion is a carbonate, phosphate, hydrogen phosphate, oxalate, borate or tetraborate ion.

### Claim 24 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, where the copper salt particles are present in the form of an aqueous suspension.

### Claim 25 (depends on 19)
