Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for increasing the water resistance of a porous material, in particular wood, in which method a block-polymer comprising at least one hydrophobic block and at least one hydrophilic block, is dissolved in a fluid and applied to the material under supercritical conditions.
Claims24
A method of increasing the water resistance of a porous material comprising the steps of:
- a1) applying at least one polymer to the porous material;
- or
- a2) mixing at least one polymer with a fluid;
- and
- b) treating the porous material with a fluid, optionally the fluid comprising the polymer, under supercritical conditions;
- wherein the at least one polymer is a block-polymer comprising at least one hydrophobic block and at least one hydrophilic block.
Use of at least one block-polymer comprising one hydrophilic block and one hydrophobic block for increasing the water resistance of a porous material.
A composition comprising at least two block-polymers, wherein each block polymer comprises at least one hydrophobic block and at least one hydrophilic block and wherein the at least two block polymers are not identical.
