Abstract
Anti-HIV peptides and methods of use are provided. In particular, these HIV inhibitory peptides are discovered based on the Antimicrobial Peptide Database.

A method for increasing the anti-HIV activity of a peptide, said method comprising:
- a) obtaining a peptide;
- b) increasing the number of arginines in said peptide;
- and
- c) determining the anti-HIV activity of the peptide modified in step b), wherein an increase in the anti-HIV activity of the modified peptide compared to the unmodified peptide of step a) is indicative of a peptide having increased anti-HIV activity.
