Abstract
A system and method for forming an adjusted estimate of scattered radiation in a radiographic projection of a target object, which incorporates scattered radiation from objects adjacent to the target object, such as a patient table. A piercing point equalization method is disclosed, and a refinement of analytical kernel methods which utilizes hybrid kernels is also disclosed.
Claims36
A method of forming a corrected estimate of scattered radiation in a radiographic projection of a target object, the method comprising:
- generating at least one radiographic projection of the target object;
- forming a first scatter correction estimate of the radiographic projection, the first scatter correction estimate including scatter substantially from the target object;
- forming a second scatter correction estimate of the radiographic projection, the second scatter correction estimate including scatter substantially from one or more adjacent objects;
- and
- generating the corrected estimate of scattered radiation by combining the first scatter correction estimate and the second scatter correction estimate.
A computer-readable medium configured to store instruction sets which, when executed by a processor of a computer system, cause the processor to form a corrected estimate of scattered radiation in a radiographic projection of a target object, the computer readable medium comprising:
- one or more instruction sets that directs the processor to perform the actions of generating at least one radiographic projection of the target object;
- forming a first scatter correction estimate of the radiographic projection, the first scatter correction estimate including scatter substantially from the target object;
- forming a second scatter correction estimate of the radiographic projection, the second scatter correction estimate including scatter substantially from one or more adjacent objects;
- and
- generating the corrected estimate of scattered radiation by combining the first scatter correction estimate and the second scatter correction estimate.
