Abstract
The present invention is a nanoparticle mixture or suspension or nanofluid comprising nonmagnetically sensitive nanoparticles, magnetically sensitive nanoparticles, and surfactant(s). The present invention also relates to methods of preparing and using the same.
Claims27
A nanoparticle composition comprising one or more nonmagnetically sensitive nanoparticles, one or more magnetically sensitive nanoparticles, and one or more surfactants;
- wherein substantially all of the nonmagnetically sensitive nanoparticles are aligned.
The nanoparticle composition according to claim 13, wherein the surfactants are anionic surfactants.
The nanoparticle composition according to claim 14 wherein the anionic surfactants are sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (NaDDBS).
The nanoparticle composition according to claim 16, wherein the cationic surfactants are trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB).
A method of making a nanoparticle composition, comprising the steps of:
- dispersing one or more nonmagnetically sensitive nanoparticles, one or more magnetically sensitive nanoparticles, and one or more surfactants into a fluid;
- and
- b. exposing the fluid and its contents to a magnetic field.
