Anti-Theft Ring Assembly And Method Of Using the Same

An anti-theft ring assembly comprising:

• a base including a first surface and an opposing second surface and having an opening disposed there through;
• an engagement member including a support member having a curved construction constructed and arranged to support a ring and at least a portion of which is sized larger than the opening, and a locking member constructed and arranged to hold the support member on the base so as to allow rotation of the engagement member relative to the base;
• an attachment member constructed and arranged to secure the ring to the support member;
• an opening in the engagement member configured and dimensioned to receive the attachment member;
• and
• wherein during use the support member rests against the first surface of the base and prevents the remaining portion of the engagement member from being inserted through the opening, the locking member rests against the second surface of the base and secures the support member to the base, and the attachment member is received within the opening in the engagement member and the ring to support the ring on the engagement member wherein upon applying a twisting force to the ring the engagement member rotates within the opening so that the attachment member is not broken.

A method of constructing an anti-theft ring assembly comprising the steps of:

• providing a card having a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and an opening therein;
• providing an engagement member including a support member having a curved construction to support a ring and further including a locking member constructed and arranged to secure the support member to the card;
• providing an attachment member constructed and arranged to secure the ring to the support member;
• inserting the engagement member within the opening in the card so that the support member rests against the first surface of the card and the locking member rests against the second surface of the card;
• placing a shank of the ring on the support member;
• inserting the attachment member through the shank of the ring;
• securing the locking member so that the ring is held on the support member;
• and
• wherein upon applying a twisting force to the ring the engagement member rotates within the opening so that the attachment member is not broken.
