Abstract
In a method for displaying messages, a system displays messages from a single user account in multiple viewports. Each viewport orders messages based on an importance score that is calculated based on the user's prior interactions with messages in his user account through that viewport. Each viewport associated with the user account orders messages using a distinct message importance model.
Claims27
A method for displaying messages performed by a client device having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors to perform the method, comprising:
- in response to a first user action at the client device:
- selecting a first viewport from a plurality of viewports;
- and
- displaying at the client device a first subset of a first plurality of messages associated with the first viewport, the first subset ordered by an first importance score calculated using a first importance predictive model;
- in response to a second user action at the client device;
- selecting a second viewport from the plurality of viewports;
- and
- displaying at the client device a second subset of a second plurality of messages associated with the second viewport, the second subset ordered by a second importance score calculated using a second importance predictive model;
- wherein the first and second pluralities of messages each comprise messages in a single user account of the respective user;
- and
- wherein the first and second importance predictive models are not identical.
A method for sending messages to client devices, performed by a server system having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors to perform the method, comprising:
- at the server system:
- in response to a first user action at a first client device:
- selecting a first viewport from a plurality of viewports;
- and
- sending to the first client device information listing a first subset of a first plurality of messages associated with a first viewport, the listing of the first subset ordered by an first importance score calculated using a first importance predictive model;
- in response to a second user action at a respective client device comprising the first client device or a second client device:
- selecting a second viewport from the plurality of viewports;
- and
- sending to the respective client device information listing a second subset of a second plurality of messages associated with a second viewport, the listing of the second subset ordered by a second importance score calculated using a second importance predictive model;
- wherein the first and second pluralities of messages each comprise messages in a single user account of the respective user;
- and
- wherein the first and second importance predictive models are not identical.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions for:
- at a client device,
- in response to a first user action at the client device:
- selecting a first viewport from a plurality of viewports;
- and
- displaying at the client device a first subset of a first plurality of messages associated with the first viewport, the first subset ordered by an first importance score calculated using a first importance predictive model;
- in response to a second user action at the client device:
- selecting a second viewport from the plurality of viewports;
- and
- displaying at the client device a second subset of a second plurality of messages associated with the second viewport, the second subset ordered by a second importance score calculated using a second importance predictive model;
- wherein the first and second pluralities of messages each comprise messages in a single user account of the respective user;
- and
- wherein the first and second importance predictive models are not identical.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions for:
- at a server system:
- in response to a first user action at a first client device:
- selecting a first viewport from a plurality of viewports;
- and
- sending to the first client device information listing a first subset of a first plurality of messages associated with a first viewport, the listing of the first subset ordered by an first importance score calculated using a first importance predictive model;
- in response to a second user action at a respective client device comprising the first client device or a second client device:
- selecting a second viewport from the plurality of viewports;
- and
- sending to the respective client device information listing a second subset of a second plurality of messages associated with a second viewport, the listing of the second subset ordered by a second importance score calculated using a second importance predictive model;
- wherein the first and second pluralities of messages each comprise messages in a single user account of the respective user;
- and
- wherein the first and second importance predictive models are not identical.
A client device, comprising:
- memory;
- one or more processors;
- and
- one or more modules stored in the memory and configured for execution by the one or more processors, the one or more modules including:
- instructions, responsive to a first user action at the client device, for:
- selecting a first viewport from a plurality of viewports;
- and
- displaying at the client device a first subset of a first plurality of messages associated with the first viewport, the first subset ordered by an first importance score calculated using a first importance predictive model;
- instructions, responsive to a second user action at the client device, for:
- selecting a second viewport from the plurality of viewports;
- and
- displaying at the client device a second subset of a second plurality of messages associated with the second viewport, the second subset ordered by a second importance score calculated using a second importance predictive model;
- wherein the first and second pluralities of messages each comprise messages in a single user account of the respective user;
- and
- wherein the first and second importance predictive models are not identical.
A server system, comprising:
- memory;
- one or more processors;
- and
- one or more modules stored in the memory and configured for execution by the one or more processors, the one or more modules including:
- instructions, responsive to a first user action at a first client device, for:
- selecting a first viewport from a plurality of viewports;
- and
- sending to the first client device information listing a first subset of a first plurality of messages associated with a first viewport, the listing of the first subset ordered by an first importance score calculated using a first importance predictive model;
- instructions, in response to a second user action at a respective client device comprising the first client device or a second client device, for:
- selecting a second viewport from the plurality of viewports;
- and
- sending to the respective client device information listing a second subset of a second plurality of messages associated with a second viewport, the listing of the second subset ordered by a second importance score calculated using a second importance predictive model;
- wherein the first and second pluralities of messages each comprise messages in a single user account of the respective user;
- and
- wherein the first and second importance predictive models are not identical.
A method for displaying messages performed by a client device having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors to perform the method, comprising:
