Abstract
A method of promoting neural cell regeneration is carried out by contacting a neural cell with a compound that inhibits the binding of a chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (CSPG) to a cellular (e.g., trans-membrane) PTPσ protein. The neural cell is associated with an injury or neurodegenerative condition.
Claims24
A method of promoting outgrowth of a neuron, comprising contacting the neuron with an agent that inhibits the interaction of chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (CSPG) to protein tyrosine phosphatase sigma (PTPσ).
A method of promoting neural regeneration in the central nervous system (CNS) of a subject in need thereof, comprising contacting a neuron of the subject with an agent that inhibits the interaction of chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (CSPG) to protein tyrosine phosphatase sigma (PTPσ).
