Abstract
The present invention generally relates to the field of probiotic bacteria. In particular it relates to Bifidobacterium longum, such as Bifidobacterium longum ATCC BAA-999, and its use in ingestible compositions. The composition described in the present invention may be used to treat or prevent functional GI disorders.

A method for in the treatment of functional GI disorders comprising the step of administering a composition comprising Bifidobacterium longum ATCC BAA-999 to a patient suffering from same.
A method for the prevention of functional GI disorders comprising administering to a patient in need of same a composition comprising Bifidobacterium longum ATCC BAA-999.
