Abstract
A processing apparatus that is formed from a plurality of metal layers that are stacked and aligned together and then connected together to form one or more portions of the processing apparatus.
Claims17
A method of manufacturing at least portion of a processing apparatus comprising:
- providing a plurality of metal layers;
- forming a plurality of metal layers into specific shapes;
- stacking and aligning said plurality of formed metal layers;
- connecting together said plurality of formed metal layers to form said portion of said processing apparatus, said processing apparatus including at least one fluid channel designed to process fluid flowing therethrough.
A processing apparatus comprising a plurality of metal layers, at least two of said metal layers including a hole, slot, and combinations thereof that is designed to allow fluid flow therethrough when said metal layers are connected together, at least two of said metal layers connected together by at least one laminate.
A processing apparatus designed enable a reaction or combustion of one or more fluids flowing through the processing apparatus, said processing apparatus comprising and an external system, said plurality of metal layers at least partially forming a fluid channel system, at least two of said metal layers stacked and aligned together and connected together by at least one metal laminate, at least two of said metal layers including an opening, said opening spaced from an outer edge of said at least two metal layers, said openings of adjacently positioned metal layers forming at least one fluid channel through said metal layers that is designed to enable fluid to flow through the at least one fluid channel when said metal layers are connected together, said external system selected from the group consisting of a heating system, a cooling system, a magnetic field generator, an ultrasonic wave generator, a sound wave generator, a vibration generator, and an electromagnetic field generator, said external system designed to act on said fluid channel system to a) change a reaction rate of one or more components flowing through said fluid channel system, b) at least partially function as a catalyst or facilitator in a reaction of one or more components flowing through said fluid channel system, c) modify a structure of one or more components flowing through said fluid channel system, d) facilitate in or change a flowrate of one or more components flowing through said fluid channel system, e) change a density of one or more components flowing through the processing apparatus, f) a change of fluidity of one or more components flowing through the processing apparatus, g) a change of consistency of one or more components flowing through the processing apparatus, and combinations thereof.
