Data output apparatus and data output method

A data processing system, comprising:

• a playback unit configured to play back a signal from a recording medium at a first rate, the signal comprising fields of video data and samples of audio data, each field of video data corresponding to a plurality of the samples of audio data, the samples of audio data being played back in an order of the corresponding fields;
• a switch unit configured to divide the signal into portions, wherein each of the portions comprises a respective field of the video data and a respective plurality of the samples of audio data;
• M signal processing units, each of the signal processing units configured t
• apply processing, at a second rate, to a respective portion of the signal comprising a respective field of the video data and a respective plurality of the samples of audio data, the processing comprising converting the respective plurality of the samples of audio data into a respective plurality of processed audio samples, and
• write the respective plurality of processed audio samples into a memory;
• and
• an audio processing unit configured to read out the pluralities of processed audio samples from the memory at the first rate and in the order of the corresponding fields of video data.

A data processing method for processing a signal provided at a first rate, the signal comprising fields of video data and samples of audio data, each field of video data corresponding to a plurality of the samples of audio data, the samples of audio data being played back in an order of the corresponding fields, the data processing method comprising:

• receiving M portions of the signal, each portion of the signal comprising a respective field of the video data and a respective plurality of the samples of audio data corresponding to the respective field;
• processing each of the M portions of the signal at a second rate, wherein the processing comprises converting the M pluralities of samples of audio data into M pluralities of processed audio samples;
• writing the M pluralities of processed audio samples into a memory;
• and
• reading out the M pluralities of processed audio samples from the memory at the first rate and in the order of the corresponding fields of video data.
