A method of in situ re-stabilizing an existing implant in bone tissue in a subject, which method is suitable for re-stabilizing a dental implant in low quality bone tissue, comprising the following steps:
- providing a powder comprising a powdered cement and optionally, inert filler particles, which cement is based on calcium aluminate;
- providing an aqueous hydration liquid containing LiCl;
- and
- mixing the powdered cement and hydration liquid so as to form a paste;
- also comprising the further step of
- applying the paste to a surface of an existing implant in need of re-stabilization in bone tissue in a subject, which surface is to be in contact with bone tissue;
- wherein the calcium aluminate consists of particles of the phases CA and/or C12A7, and optionally C3A, wherein the cement may additionally comprise the calcium silicate phase C3S, and wherein the combined amounts of any C3A and C3S present do not exceed 10% by weight of the cement, and wherein the powdered cement exhibit a mean particle size within the interval of 2-7 μm, and the powder to liquid ratio is within the range of 2.0:1 to 5.0:1.
