Abstract
A hose coupling comprising a main body having a hose nipple section with at least one barb formed thereon, and a retention spring extending from a collar formed on the main body, the retention spring overlying a portion of the hose nipple section where the retention spring applies a clamping force on a hose that is trapped and held in position between the retention spring and the hose nipple section by the barb(s).
Claims11
A fluid coupling for retaining a hose on said fluid coupling comprising;
- a coupling body including a coupling nipple and a coupling barb formed on said coupling nipple;
- a retention spring having axially separated coils attached to said hose coupling and disposed to contact and apply a clamping force on the hose at the coupling barb.
A method of retaining a hose onto a hose coupling comprising:
- providing a coupling body;
- providing a hose nipple body extending from said coupling body and having at least one hose barb formed thereon;
- providing a retention spring attached to said coupling body and substantially covering said hose nipple and hose barb;
- providing a hose for conveyance of a fluid;
- pushing said hose onto said hose nipple then;
- compressing said retention spring, then;
- releasing said retention spring to apply a clamping force on said hose at said hose barb.
A fluid coupling for retaining a hose to said fluid coupling comprising;
- a fluid coupling body;
- a hose nipple extending from said coupling body, said hose nipple having at least one hose barb formed thereon;
- a retention spring having axially separated coils and having a spring base attached to a first end of said retention spring, said spring base attached to said fluid coupling body, said retention spring having a spring collar attached to a second end of said retention spring, said retention spring extending to cover a substantial section of said hose nipple and covering said hose barb.
