Abstract
According to one embodiment, a toner cartridge includes a toner container to be attached to and detached from an image forming apparatus body, a shutter to open and close a toner supply port of the toner container, and a key that indicates a type of the toner cartridge and allows the shutter to slide if the key coincides with a release part of the image forming apparatus body.

A toner cartridge comprising:
- a toner container to be attached to and detached from an image forming apparatus body;
- a shutter to open and close a toner supply port of the toner container;
- and
- a key that indicates a type of the toner cartridge and allows the shutter to slide if the key coincides with a release part of the image forming apparatus body.

An image forming apparatus comprising:
- a developing device to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier;
- a container support part to attachably and detachably support a toner cartridge to supply toner to the developing device;
- and
- a release part that is provided on the container support part and slides a shutter, which opens and closes a toner supply port of the toner cartridge, in parallel to an attachment and detachment direction if the release part coincides with a key indicating a type of the toner cartridge.

An attachment and detachment method of a toner cartridge, comprising:
- inserting a toner cartridge into an image forming apparatus body;
- coinciding a key indicating a type of the toner cartridge with a release part arranged in the image forming apparatus body;
- and
- sliding a shutter in parallel to an insertion direction and opening a toner supply port of the toner cartridge according to an insertion operation of the toner cartridge if the key coincides with the release part.
