## Abstract

A computer-usable storage medium having instructions embodied therein that when executed cause a computer system to perform a method for managing a license for a product. The method comprising, receiving a command from a user to execute the product at the computer system, wherein the product requires a license for execution; automatically accessing the license for the product from a database of licenses; and storing the license at the computer system for automatic license activation upon execution of the product.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A computer-usable storage medium having instructions embodied therein that when executed cause a computer system to perform a method for managing a license for a product, said method comprising:
receiving a command from a user to execute said product at said computer system, wherein said product requires a license for execution;
automatically accessing said license for said product from a database of licenses; and
storing said license at said computer system for automatic license activation upon execution of said product.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 1, wherein said product is a self-contained file.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 1, said method further comprising:
installing said product using said license in an operating system associated with said computer system.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 1, said method further comprising:
caching said product at said computer system for execution of said product at said computer system without requiring said product to be installed in an operating system associated with said computer system.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 1, said method further comprising:
executing said product at said computer system via a product browser in response to a command from a user.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 1, said method further comprising:
tracking a usage of said product on said computer system, wherein said tracking occurs via said product browser.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 6, said method further comprising:
generating a notification of an option to reclaim said license in response to information that said product is under-utilized by said device, wherein said information that said product is under-utilized is based at least in part on said usage.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 1, wherein said installing said product occurs at a cache associated with a storage medium of said computer system, said method further comprising:
automatically managing a size of said cache based on predefined limits.

### Claim 9

A computer-usable storage medium having instructions embodied therein that when executed cause a computer system to perform a method for executing a product on a computer system, said method comprising:
receiving an execution command from a user for said product, wherein said product is a self-contained file;
initiating a streaming retrieval of said product from a source; and
during said streaming, executing said product at said computer system via a product browser before said streaming is complete.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 9 wherein said executing said product caches said product at said computer system without requiring said product to be installed in an operating system associated with said computer system.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 9 wherein said streaming retrieval of said product first pre-fetches core elements of said product needed for said executing.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 9 wherein said streaming retrieval of said product makes a demand for elements of said product needed for said executing.

### Claim 13 (depends on 9)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 9, said method further comprising:
tracking a usage of said product on said computer system, wherein said tracking occurs via said product browser.

### Claim 14 (depends on 9)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 9, wherein said product is associated with a uniform resource locator employed for displaying information regarding said product via said product browser.

### Claim 15 (depends on 9)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 9, wherein said executing said product occurs at a cache associated with a storage medium of said computer system, said method further comprising:
automatically managing a size of said cache based on predefined limits and a number of products installed.

### Claim 16 (depends on 9)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 9, wherein said source is a private database of products.

### Claim 17

A computer-usable storage medium having instructions embodied therein that when executed cause a computer system to perform a method for managing and executing a product, said method comprising:
receiving a command from a user to execute said product at said computer system via a product browser, wherein said product requires a license for execution, and wherein said product is a self-contained file;
automatically accessing said license for said product from a database of licenses;
storing said license at said computer system for automatic license activation upon execution of said product; and
during said streaming, executing said product at said computer system before said streaming is complete.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 17, said method further comprising:
tracking a usage of said product on said computer system, wherein said tracking occurs via said product browser.

### Claim 19 (depends on 17)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 17, wherein said product is associated with a uniform resource locator.

### Claim 20 (depends on 17)

The computer-usable storage medium of claim 17, wherein said installing said product occurs at a cache associated with a storage medium of said computer system, said method further comprising:
automatically managing a size of said cache based on predefined limits and a number of products installed.
