Abstract
Coated articles may comprise one or more coating layers, including water resistant coatings. A method comprises applying such coating layers by dip, spray or flow coating. The methods can make coated containers, preferably comprising polyethylene terephthalate, from coated preforms. In some methods, the aqueous solutions, dispersions, or emulsions are substantially or completely free of VOCs.

A preform for a container comprising
- a body portion comprising a base material that has an inner surface and an outer surface
- wherein at least a portion of the outer surface of the base material is coated with a gas barrier layer and a water-resistant coating layer
- wherein the gas barrier layer comprises one or more Phenoxy-type Thermoplastic;
- and
- wherein the water-resistant coating layer comprises one or more chlorine-container polymer.
