Cutting Device and Method in Such a Device

A cutting device for cutting predetermined figures out of an elongated, thin portion of a plastically deformable material, said cutting device comprising a table top, which exhibits a planar table surface for supporting the elongated portion, wherein the cutting device comprises:

• two elongated guide and support means, which are arranged at each long side of the table top;
• a traverser, which is movable along the guide and support means and in the longitudinal direction of the table top, and which extends transversely to the table top substantially perpendicularly to said longitudinal direction and comprises a rotatable cutter roll, which extends across the major part of the width of the table top and comprises cutting elements for cutting said figures out of the elongated portion, wherein the traverser is adapted to be moved along the guide and support means with the cutter roll in a cutting position for cutting out said figures;
• and
• rotating means for causing the cutter roll to rotate, during the movement of the cutter roll in the cutting position, at a peripheral speed substantially corresponding to the translational speed of the cutter roll across the table surface.
