Active lashing materials and eyelets

A securing assembly adapted for securing a cargo, facilitating threading, attenuating tension, reducing slack, and/or promoting a more secure relationship, said assembly comprising:

• at least one eyelet defining an inside diameter;
• and
• a lashing material defining a length, and cross-sectional diameter less than the inside diameter, so as to be threaded through said at least one eyelet,
• wherein said at least one eyelet and/or material further comprise an active material element operable to undergo a change in fundamental property when exposed to or occluded from an activation signal, so as to be activated and deactivated, respectively,
• said change being operable to modify the length, inside diameter, or cross-sectional diameter, so as to further secure the cargo, facilitate threading, attenuate tension, or reduce the length.
