Media Processing Device, Control Method For A Media Processing Device, And Recording Medium Storing A Program Executed By A Control Unit That Controls A Media Processing Device

A media processing device control method that controls a media processing device having a plurality of operation units for processing a plurality of recording media, comprising:

• executing commands received from a host computer and controlling the operation units corresponding to the commands;
• detecting in a normal operating mode that commands for one of the operation units cannot be executed;
• and
• enabling a limited operation mode wherein commands for the one the operation units cannot be executed, and commands from the host computer can be received and commands for others of the operation units can be executed, when it is detected that commands for the one of the operation units cannot be executed.

A computer-readable recording medium storing a program that can be executed by a control unit that controls a media processing device having a plurality of operation units for processing a plurality of recording media, the program causing the control unit to execute steps comprising:

• executing commands received from a host computer and controlling the operation units corresponding to the commands;
• detecting in a normal operating mode that commands for one of the operation units cannot be executed;
• and
• enabling a limited operation mode wherein commands for the one of the operation units cannot be executed, and commands from the host computer can be received and commands for others of the operation units can be executed, when it is detected that commands for the one of the operation units cannot be executed.
