Methods and computer program products for storing generated network application performance data

A method for generating a model of network application health during a specified time interval, the method comprising:

• requesting at least one persistent data store file that corresponds to the specified time interval from respective ones of a plurality of collector applications;
• receiving, responsive to requesting, a plurality of persistent data store files and indications of local time at respective ones of the plurality of collector applications, ones of the plurality of persistent data store files containing a record of events and associated timestamps generated by the respective ones of the plurality of collector applications during the specified time interval;
• adjusting the respective ones of the associated timestamps in the plurality of persistent data store files to synchronize with a reference time indication;
• merging the plurality of persistent data store files, wherein merging includes ordering events contained within the plurality of persistent data store files according to adjusted timestamps;
• identifying a plurality of applications and relationships therebetween based on merged persistent data store files;
• generating a model that includes identified applications and the relationships therebetween, the model providing a representation of the activity of the plurality of applications during the specified time period;
• and
• displaying a representation of the model;
• wherein requesting at least one persistent data store file, receiving a plurality of persistent data store files, adjusting the respective ones of the associated timestamps, merging the plurality of persistent data store files, identifying a plurality of applications and relationships therebetween, generating a model, and displaying a representation of the model comprise operations carried out using at least one programmed computer processor circuit.

A computer program product comprising:

• a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having computer readable program code embodied therein, the computer readable program code comprising:
• computer readable program code configured to collect performance data corresponding to at least one application running on the networked device;
• computer readable program code configured to generate a plurality of metrics based on the collected performance data;
• computer readable program code configured to generate an event incorporating at least one of the plurality of metrics;
• and
• computer readable program code configured to store the event and an associated timestamp in a persistent data store.
