Abstract
A low profile electrical adapter body releasably connects to the electrodes of a pacing lead connector, such as an IS-1. Spring steel lead connector holders and the twist-tolerant cable allow continuous ECG recording while manipulating the pacing lead. The adapter body includes two lead connector holders. A grip longitudinally aligns the lead connector within the adapter body. The grip is slidably attached to a twist-tolerant cable and releasably engages the adapter to form a single adapter assembly that enlarges the device for easier digital manipulation. A twist-tolerant cable connects the low profile adapter directly or indirectly to a medical test device such as a pacemaker analyzer.
Claims18
A system for connecting an electrical lead implanted in a patient's body to an electrical medical device, comprising:
- a low profile adapter body;
- a first lead connector holder disposed in the adapter, the first holder being adapted to receive and releasably hold a lead connector;
- a second lead connector holder disposed in the adapter, the second holder being adapted to receive and releasably hold the lead connector;
- and
- a grip configured to form a single assembly with the adapter and to be releasably engageable with the adapter.
A method of connecting a lead connector with proximal and distal ends to an electrical medical device, comprising the steps of:
- aligning the lead connector with a low profile adapter body having two lead connector holders, wherein the lead connector holders comprise contacts electrically connected to the medical device by one end of a twist-tolerant cable connected to the electrical medical device;
- abutting one end of the lead connector against an alignment guide;
- and
- placing the lead connector in the two connector holders such that the lead connector is releasably retained in the two connector holders at a predetermined breakaway force.
