Abstract
The invention provides compositions and methods for reducing one or more symptoms of an autoimmune disease, inflammatory disease, and/or transplant rejection, by the administration to a subject in need thereof a pharmaceutically effective amount of a purified compound of any one of Formulae A-E. The invention's methods are useful for the prevention, amelioration, and treatment of autoimmune disease, inflammatory disease, and/or transplant rejection.

A method for reducing one or more symptoms of multiple sclerosis in a subject in need thereof, wherein said method comprises administering to said subject a pharmaceutically effective amount of purified piceatannol, wherein said subject is selected from the group consisting of human, mouse and canine.
A method for reducing one or more symptoms of asthma in a subject in need thereof, wherein said method comprises administering to said subject a pharmaceutically effective amount of purified piceatannol, wherein said subject is selected from the group consisting of human, mouse and canine.
A method for reducing one or more symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease in a subject in need thereof, wherein said method comprises administering to said subject a pharmaceutically effective amount of a purified compound selected from the group consisting of piceatannol and tetramethoxy-piceatannol, wherein said subject is selected from the group consisting of human, mouse and canine.
