Abstract
A microfluidic device having a substrate with an array of curvilinear cavities. The substrate of the microfluidic device is preferably fabricated of a polymer such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). The microfluidic device is manufactured using a gas expansion molding (GEM) technique.
Claims20
A microfluidic device comprising:
- a substrate comprising a plurality of curvilinear cavities, each of said plurality of curvilinear cavities comprising an inner surface and an opening having a first diameter, wherein the inner surface of each curvilinear cavity curves outward from a rounded bottom located at a point furthest from said opening of said cavity to a maximum diameter, and then curves inward from said maximum diameter to said opening, said maximum diameter being greater than said first diameter.
The microfluidic device of claim 13, wherein the coating provides a microenvironment beneficial for the culture of specific cells.
