Abstract
The present invention relates to a composition comprising an extract of Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge or the compounds isolated from the same, as an active ingredient. In particular, the extract and compounds have the excellent inhibitory effects on adipocyte differentiation, and thus can be used in a pharmaceutical composition and functional food for the prevention and treatment of lipid metabolism disorders.

A compound, comprising (E)-5,7-dihydroxy-3-(4′-hydroxybenzylidene)-6-methylchroman-4-one, 7-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxybenzyl)coumarin, or 1,3-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-yn-1-one which is isolated from Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
A pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or treatment of lipid metabolism disorders, comprising an extract of Anemarrhena asphodeloides, the compound selected from group consisting of (a) to (n), or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:
- (a) (E)-5,7-dihydroxy-3-(4′-hydroxybenzylidene)-6-methylchroman-4-one
- (b) 7-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxybenzyl)coumarin
- (c) 1,3-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-yn-1-one
- (d) 4′-O-Methylnyasol
- (e) Nyasol
- (f) Broussonin A
- (g) 1,3-bis-di-p-hydroxyphenyl-4-penten-1-one
- (h) 2′,4′,4-Trihydroxychalcone
- (i) 7,4′-Dihydroxyhomoisoflavane
- (j) 2′-O-Methylisoliquiritigenin
- (k) 2,4′,6-Trihydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone
- (l) 4′,7-Dihydroxy-5-methoxyflavanone
- (m) 2′-O-Methylphloretin
- (n) 4,4′-Dihydroxychalcon
A functional food for the prevention and improvement of lipid metabolism disorders, comprising an extract of Anemarrhena asphodeloides, the compound selected from group consisting of (a) to (n), or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:

- (b) 7-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxybenzyl)coumarin

- (d) 4′-O-Methylnyasol
- (e) Nyasol
- (f) Broussonin A
- (g) 1,3-bis-di-p-hydroxyphenyl-4-penten-1-one
- (h) 2′,4′,4-Trihydroxychalcone
- (i) 7,4′-Dihydroxyhomoisoflavane
- (j) 2′-O-Methylisoliquiritigenin

A method for preventing or treating lipid metabolism disorders, comprising administering an extract of Anemarrhena asphodeloides, the compound selected from the group consisting of (a) to (n), or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof at a therapeutically effective dose to a subject in need thereof.
