Abstract
The present invention discloses isolated peptides encoding an antigen or fragments thereof from the N-terminus of hemagglutinin protein of influenza, methods for isolating such antigens and specific uses thereof. The peptide can be used as a vaccine to generate an antibody response that neutralizes influenza infectivtty against a variety of influenza strains.

A purified or isolated peptide having the amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID No. 6.
A method of immunizing an individual against influenza virus comprising administering to said individual an effective amount of a peptide having the amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID No. 6.
A method of preparing a medicament for immunizing an individual against influenza virus comprising admixing a peptide having the amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID No. 6 with a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient, adjuvant or diluent.
