Information Processing Apparatus and Method for Generating Print Data for a Book with a Cover Sheet

An information processing apparatus for generating print data to be transmitted to a printing device, said information processing apparatus comprising:

• a first receiving unit configured to receive a designation of a bookbinding print for outputting a book to be generated based on the print data;
• a second receiving unit configured to receive a selection for setting (i) a first region on a front cover of a cover sheet, a second region corresponding to a reverse side of the first region, a third region corresponding to a back cover of the cover sheet, and a fourth region corresponding to a reverse side of the third region, or (ii) the first region and the second region, as a print position on the cover sheet of the book to be output based on the designation received by said first receiving unit;
• a generation unit configured to, based on a total number of pages to be output from an application and the print position selection received by said second receiving unit, generate (i) print data for printing a page to be output from the application onto both a sheet constituting a body of the book and the cover sheet, or generate (ii) print data for printing a page to be output from the application onto the cover sheet without printing the page onto the sheet constituting the body of the book;
• and
• a transmission unit configured to transmit the print data generated by said generation unit to the printing device.

An information processing apparatus for generating print data to be transmitted to a printing device, said information processing apparatus comprising:

• a first receiving unit configured to receive a designation of a bookbinding print for outputting a book based on the print data;
• a second receiving unit configured to receive a designation of a cover print for outputting a single cover sheet as a cover of the book;
• a generation unit configured to, in a case where the designation of the bookbinding print is received by said first receiving unit and the designation of the cover print is received by said second receiving unit, generate (i) print data for printing a page to be output from an application onto both a sheet constituting a body of the book and the cover sheet, or generate (ii) print data for printing a page to be output from the application onto the cover sheet without printing onto the sheet constituting the body of the book, based on a total number of pages to be output from the application, and
• a transmission unit configured to transmit the print data generated by said generation unit to the printing device.

An information processing method executed by an information processing apparatus for generating print data to be transmitted to a printing device, said method comprising:

• a first receiving step of receiving a designation of a bookbinding print for outputting a book to be generated based on the print data;
• a second receiving step of receiving a selection for setting (i) a first region on a front cover of a cover sheet, a second region corresponding to a reverse side of the first region, a third region corresponding to a back cover of the cover sheet, and a fourth region corresponding to a reverse side of the third region, or (ii) the first region and the second region, as a print position on the cover sheet of the book to be output based on the designation received in the first receiving step;
• a generation step of, based on a total number of pages to be output from an application and the print position selection received in the second receiving step, generating (i) print data for printing a page to be output from the application onto both a sheet constituting a body of the book and the cover sheet, or generating (ii) print data for printing a page to be output from the application onto the cover sheet without printing the page onto the sheet constituting the body of the book;
• and
• a transmission step of transmitting the print data generated in the generation step to the printing device.

An information processing method executed by an information processing apparatus for generating print data to be transmitted to a printing device, said method comprising:

• a first receiving step of receiving a designation of a bookbinding print for outputting a book based on the print data;
• a second receiving step of receiving a designation of a cover print for outputting a single cover sheet as a cover of the book;
• a generation step of, in a case where the designation of the bookbinding print is received in the first receiving step and the designation of the cover print is received in the second receiving step, generating (i) print data for printing a page to be output from an application onto both a sheet constituting a body of the book and the cover sheet, or generating (ii) print data for printing a page to be output from the application onto the cover sheet without printing onto the sheet constituting the body of the book, based on a total number of pages to be output from the application, and
• a transmission step of transmitting the print data generated in the generation step to the printing device.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a program causing an information processing apparatus to execute an information processing method, said method comprising:

• a first receiving step of receiving a designation of a bookbinding print for outputting a book to be generated based on the print data;
• a second receiving step of receiving a selection for setting (i) a first region on a front cover of a cover sheet, a second region corresponding to a reverse side of the first region, a third region corresponding to a back cover of the cover sheet, and a fourth region corresponding to a reverse side of the third region, or (ii) the first region and the second region, as a print position on the cover sheet of the book to be output based on the designation received in the first receiving step;
• a generation step of, based on a total number of pages to be output from an application and the print position selection received in the second receiving step, generating (i) print data for printing a page to be output from the application onto both a sheet constituting a body of the book and the cover sheet, or generating (ii) print data for printing a page to be output from the application onto the cover sheet without printing the page onto the sheet constituting the body of the book;
• and
• a transmission step of transmitting the print data generated in the generation step to the printing device.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a program causing an information processing apparatus to execute an information processing method, said method comprising:

• a first receiving step of receiving a designation of a bookbinding print for outputting a book based on the print data;
• a second receiving step of receiving a designation of a cover print for outputting a single cover sheet as a cover of the book;
• a generation step of, in a case where the designation of the bookbinding print is received in the first receiving step and the designation of the cover print is received in the second receiving step, generating (i) print data for printing a page to be output from an application onto both a sheet constituting a body of the book and the cover sheet, or generating (ii) print data for printing a page to be output from the application onto the cover sheet without printing onto the sheet constituting the body of the book, based on a total number of pages to be output from the application, and
• a transmission step of transmitting the print data generated in the generation step to the printing device.
