Abstract
The present invention provides a method and associated apparatus providing a signal metric for a transmitter of a communication system. While the transmitter transmitting a signal with amplitudes scaled by scaling combinations selected from a plurality of scaling combination alternatives, the method including: providing a plurality of power terms, each power term corresponding to one of the scaling combination alternatives; and calculating the signal metric according to the plurality of power terms.
Claims32
A method providing a signal metric for a transmitter, the transmitter transmitting a signal with amplitudes scaled by scaling combinations selected from a plurality of scaling combination alternatives, and the method comprising:
- providing a plurality of power terms, each power term corresponding to one of the scaling combination alternatives;
- and
- calculating the signal metric according to the plurality of power terms.
An apparatus providing a signal metric for a transmitter, the transmitter transmitting a signal with amplitudes scaled by scaling combinations selected from a plurality of scaling combination alternatives, and the apparatus comprising:
- an accumulation module providing a plurality of power term, each power term corresponding to one of the scaling combination alternatives;
- and
- a calculation unit calculating the signal metric according to the plurality of power terms.
